Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minster Imran Khan on Thursday declared that IAF's caught pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman will be discharged on Friday as a signal of harmony and the "initial step" to open arrangements with India.

The unexpected declaration amid a joint session of Parliament came scarcely a hour after Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Prime Minister Khan was prepared to converse with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As the Opposition head Shehbaz Sharif took the floor of the House, Khan apologized for intruding on him and said he wishes to declare that the Indian pilot caught by the Pakistan Air Force on Wednesday will be discharged on Friday as a harmony signal.

In our craving for harmony, I declare that tomorrow, and as an initial step to open exchanges, Pakistan will discharge the Indian Air Force (IAF) officer in our guardianship," Khan said. The declaration was welcomed by pounding of work areas by Pakistani administrators.

Enduring an onslaught, Yeddy says 'country starts things out'

Pak shells forward posts along LoC for seventh day
